Hi There!
My name is Peter Lyon, and I've been teaching music for 5+ years -- and playing for more than 15. I love bringing the joy of music into people's lives, no matter what skill level (or age!) you might be.
My lessons aim to be affordable, accessible, and most of all -- fun! I teach in an informal and relaxed method that balances both the theoretical and improvisational aspects of music. In addition, all my students receive personalized teaching plans tailored to their individual skill level, interests, and goals.
As a multi-instrumentalist, I teach piano, guitar, banjo, and bass guitar (and, on request, fiddle). In my free time, I specialize in playing American folk and traditional music of the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as with modern pop-forward bands in both Richmond and Williamsburg.
